OX2 delivers further three commissioned wind farms to IKEA Finland

All wind farms have now been commissioned and delivered to owner IKEA Finland by OX2. In all, the project comprises four wind farms and will generate a total of 107.4 MW. Consequently, one of the largest subsidy-free wind power projects in Finland has been completed.

In October 2018, IKEA Finland signed an agreement with OX2 to build the four wind farms in Kurikka, South Ostrobothnia, S:t Mårtens Southwest Finland, and Malax in Ostrobothnia with a total of 25 wind turbines. Ponsivuori wind farm was completed first and delivered in January 2020. All the wind farms are now operational.

“These were among the very first subsidy free wind farms ever built in Europe and really started a new era of subsidy free wind power in Finland. It feels great to have contributed to IKEA’s goals to prevent climate change,” says Teemu Loikkanen, OX2’s Country Manager for Finland.

“IKEA wants to promote a more sustainable everyday life and has set ambitious goals to fight climate change and invest in climate positivity. We are very proud and happy that IKEA Finland can promote our global goals in such a concrete way. With the help our new win farms, we are taking a leap towards our climate positivity”, says Jessica Lehtinen, Sustainability Manager at IKEA Finland.

OX2 will continue to be responsible for the technical and commercial management of the farms.
