Hamburg, 18th of April 2018. The Orange Blue Terminal, part of the Hamburg-based Buss Group, has signed a contract with GeoSea for port and logistics services, which are manufactured for the offshore wind farms Hohe See and Albatros. The windfarms will be located approximately 90 kilometers north of the North Sea island of Borkum.

Hohe See and Albatros will together comprise 88 wind turbines. GeoSea is going to start with the transportation of the foundation components by barge from the plant in Rotterdam to the Orange Blue Terminal in Eemshaven, the Netherlands from mid-April. The monopiles and transition pieces will remain aboard the barge along the quayside of the Orange Blue Terminal until they are picked up by the installation vessel.

The Orange Blue Terminal will use a landward crane for the unloading of the 88 anode cages, as well as for the subsequent loading of the installation vessel with the anode cages and grout containers. For this operation OBT will use crane equipment enabling a load out directly onto the jack up vessel, which requires an outreach of approx. 50 meters. In addition to the quay and the birth for the installation vessel, the Orange Blue Terminal provides GeoSea storage and office space, terminal equipment and its professional stuff. The project logistics specialist Buss Offshore Solutions, which is also a part of the Buss Group, supports the Orange Blue Terminal in the planning and the management of the project.

Martin Schulz, Managing Director of Buss Offshore Solutions: “We have already worked together with GeoSea in the projects Borkum Riffgrund 1, Godewind 1 and 2, Racebank and Merkur and appreciate the professional and trustful cooperation. We will also support GeoSea in this project with an efficient port logistics solution. ”

Barges will gradually transport the anode cages, monopiles and transition pieces to Eemshaven. According to operator EnBW, the two wind farms Hohe See and Albatros will be connected 2019 and then generate electricity for around 710,000 households.
