Nrg Energy And Mgm Unveil Worlds Largest Rooftop Solar Array

WHAT & WHY:
NRG Energy and MGM Resorts International celebrate the world’s largest rooftop solar array, now positioned on the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

NRG and MGM Resorts partnered together to power one of the largest conference spaces in Las Vegas, the Mandalay Bay Resort Convention Center. The 6.4 megawatt dc (MW dc) (5 MW ac) array will produce enough electricity by year’s end to offset 20 percent of Mandalay Bay’s peak energy demand, the equivalent of powering more than 1,000 homes per year.

The first of its kind on the Las Vegas Strip, the array will lower the resort’s carbon emissions and reduce the energy draw from the southern Nevada grid during the hottest peak of the day, effectively reducing energy generation costs for Mandalay Bay and customers of NV Energy.
