ABB’s new high power 1500 VDC outdoor central inverter, PVS980, is now available, complemented with an optimized ABB medium voltage (MV) solution for grid connection.
Helsinki, 8 June, 2016 – ABB continues to expand its extensive solar inverter portfolio through the launch of the new outdoor central inverter, PVS980, providing the customer with the next generation of central inverter in a cost-effective package. Together with the pre-engineered ABB MV solutions, optimized for rapid and easy connection of the inverter to MV grid, the PVS980 features ground-breaking plug-and-play solution for multi-megawatt photovoltaic (PV) plants, developed on the basis of decades of experience in power converter and inverter technology as well as on medium voltage equipment.
The new ABB central inverter PVS980 features increased DC input voltage up to 1500 VDC and a high power rating of up to 2000 kVA, to drive down the overall system costs and to provide an even more attractive solution for investors and plant owners alike. The inverter also includes the standard grid support features of PVS series inverters such as active and reactive power control including night time reactive power support. ABB has developed the PVS980 with a global mindset to ensure the inverter supports a wide range of local utility requirements through adjustable grid support features, as well as the future smart grids.
