BBB Umwelttechnik GmbH (BBB), one of Germany’s leading providers of wind energy services, is offering a new systems solution for monitoring and safeguarding valuable wind measurement data. The Measurement Monitoring System (MMS) was developed in-house by BBB engineers and has several benefits for the clients. The solution enables web-based, location-independent access to real-time wind measurement statistics while eliminating the risk of data loss. Should measuring systems become damaged by lightning, for instance, the system sends a warning message to a pre-defined contact by e-mail or text message. This makes it possible to prevent major data loss by allowing corrective action to be taken as soon as the error is detected.
This is how MMS works: the client is assigned a user name and password to access the system. Having successfully logged in, users are presented with a display of measurement data within their web browser interface. They can then enter the time period they wish to view. The system automatically analyses wind data and allows this information to be displayed as a diagram or a variety of statistics for comparison. The MMS solution can be universally applied in combination with any data-logging device and all standard measurement methods.
Demands for reliable, real-time access to wind measurement data is on the increase. “We were quick to recognise the problems associated with the timeliness and quality of wind measurement data and are constantly working to align our services and solutions with the needs of our clients,” explains Klaus Bergmann, who is responsible for the wind measurement and wind expert reports business line at the company’s branch-office in Weiden: “In MMS, we have developed, tested and implemented a system that guarantees the security of our clients’ data in mirrored databases while allowing measurement information to be accessed and updated at any time and anywhere. The solution is also compatible with all models of data logger and can be used with even the most diverse and cutting-edge measurement technologies, including LIDAR. This sets it apart from other solutions.”
Czech energy provider CEZ has been benefitting from MMS since early last year, not long after the solution was first launched.
