Renewable energy industry’s leading gearbox manufacturer and service provider Moventas promotes wind industry health and safety standards by receiving an occupational health and safety certification for its Finnish company and Finland-based field service.
Moventas has had a documented occupational health and safety system since 2010, and received good feedback on health and safety management from customer audits. This year, Moventas seeked for an independent OHSAS 18001 certification from DNV GL, to support the industry cluster’s “Wind Industry Safety Culture” inititiave issued by VDMA.
– We wanted to address the industry’s growing awareness of health and safety matters and show our interest groups that Moventas is committed to supporting this culture. As a component manufacturer and service partner, it’s important that we stand shoulder to shoulder with our clientele in this, comments Moventas CEO Arto Lahtela.
Active occupational health and safety management does not only bring customer benefits, but also wellbeing at work and savings for the company. For example this year, Moventas’ Finnish factories’ accident frequency i.e. accidents leading to one-day absence or more, has been zero. In Moventas’ annual staff survey, the overall satisfaction rate was as high as 91%.
The certification is for sales, R&D, engineering, manufacturing, service and support functions, also covering the field work of Moventas engineers who travel to locations globally. The Moventas parent company, Moventas Gears Oy in Finland, also holds both the ISO 9001 quality certification and the ISO 14001 environmental certification. All Moventas units globally follow occupational health and safety management requirements established by the parent company.
