Mono and multi crystalline solar modules from LG shine in salt spray corrosion test


28 days of continuous exposure to repeated salt spray, consisting of a 5% sodium chloride solution, a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and 93 percent relative humidity: this would spell severe corrosion for many materials and products. Not so for the solar modules from LG Solar. The tests according to IEC 61701, which were performed by the independent Korea Institute of Energy Research showed that the LG- Module did not show any visible traces of delamination, corrosion, yellowing, blistering, or cracks – even after a total of 672 hours of use in aggressive salt spray. In addition, the electrical output of the modules from the tested models was not impacted. Subject to the tests were both multi-crystalline LG2xxP1C-G2 modules as well as mono-crystalline LG2xxM1C-G2 modules. Due to the fact that they are the same design, the results can also be applied to the new LGxxxR1C-G2 and LGxxxS1C-G2 high-performance modules.

Cold and humid winter or alty ocean air – not a problem for LG Solar The positive result of the salt spray test attests that the LG solar modules tested can be used in close proximity to the ocean where the air is highly saturated with salt. And in solar arrays close to roads that are exposed to saltwater spray in the winter, LF modules can also be installed without any problem.
