Meyer Burger succesful in the Specialised Technologies area for manufacturing high-quality diamond crystals

Meyer Burger has won important orders in the Specialised Technologies area for manufacturing high-quality diamond crystals using the industry-leading microwave plasma systems from Muegge.

Muegge GmbH, a member of the Meyer Burger Group, has signed contracts with two new customers for the delivery of industrial microwave generators and microwave components for specialised applications outside of the photovoltaic industry. The orders for the microwave systems amount to around Euro 3.5 million. Winning these orders highlights the increased worldwide demand for premium microwave components while confirming the technological leadership of Muegge GmbH in the development and manufacture of generators and components for the production of synthetic diamonds.

Meyer Burger Technology Ltd (SIX Swiss Exchange: MBTN) announced today that it has successfully concluded strategic contracts with leading Asian manufacturers of synthetic diamond crystals and diamond products through its Group member Muegge GmbH, which is headquartered in Reichelsheim, Germany. These new customers are relying on the technologically advanced products and comprehensive expertise of market leader Muegge for sophisticated production systems for diamond crystals. Core components in diamond production include high-performance switch-mode power supplies in conjunction with high-quality magnetron heads and precision measuring technology for ensuring extremely stable long-term plasma processes. Delivery of the systems is scheduled for the second and third quarters of 2015.

The manufacture of synthetic diamonds is based on a process known as microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (MW-PECVD), in which the diamonds are chemically produced using plasma discharge.
