Wittenberg, 8 January 2019 — The beginning of January marks the addition of Thomas Franken, a native of Germany’s Rhineland region, as Tesvolt’s Senior Director of International Marketing. Following stints as a marketing director at SolarEdge, Q CELLS and Hanwha Solar, Franken wishes to boost the international growth of Tesvolt, already a leading manufacturer of storage systems for industry and commerce.

The area with the strongest growth outlook
“Until now, commercial storage systems have represented the smallest area of the battery storage system market — but the one with the strongest outlook for growth. Tesvolt’s special battery management system has already earned it the title of technology leader. But I want to help the company earn the title of market leader,” Thomas Franken explains.
He has been working in the photovoltaics industry for over 30 years and was most recently employed at SolarEdge as Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for Europe, sharing responsibility for the company’s resounding market growth. At Hanwha Q CELLS, he drove the successful repositioning of the Q CELLS and Hanwha Solar brands as the director of global marketing.
Tesvolt opts for agile organization
“Thomas Franken is an extraordinary marketing expert. We’re delighted to welcome him on board,” says Daniel Hannemann, who founded the company four years ago together with Simon Schandert. “At the beginning of this year we got rid of all company hierarchies. This allows us to take decisions more quickly, making us extremely agile and efficient. In keeping with this policy, all the employees in the marketing department decided as one that Thomas should take on our international marketing.”
Tesvolt’s battery management system — a unique selling point
Franken characterizes Tesvolt’s battery management system in particular as a unique selling point: “Tesvolt has huge potential, in great part due to the battery management system developed by the company itself. This is what makes the storage systems especially durable and economical.”
Tesvolt’s battery management system ensures that the battery cells are always optimally charged and discharged. The active cell balancing is not just limited to the cells within a battery module, but also optimizes the different battery modules to fit with each other. The temperature, voltage and state of charge of each individual cell or battery module is monitored, significantly boosting the cells’ lifespan. This gives Tesvolt storage systems a service life of up to 30 years, equivalent to around 8,000 complete charge cycles with a depth of discharge (DoD) of 100 percent.
About Tesvolt
Tesvolt specializes in commercial battery storage systems. The innovative company from Lutherstadt Wittenberg produces storage systems with state-of-the-art prismatic lithium battery cells from Samsung SDI, based on nickel manganese cobalt oxide. Tesvolt storage systems function just as well at low voltage as at high voltage, and can be connected to all energy producers: sun, wind, water and combined heat and power — on-grid and off-grid. All storage systems are produced at Tesvolt’s manufacturing facility in Germany.
Tesvolt was honoured with the 2018 German Entrepreneur Award for Rising Stars. The company already received The smarter E Award in the Outstanding Projects category earlier that year for a project supplying off-grid energy to an avocado farm in southwest Australia.
