JuWan Ren of SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Appointed to the Management Committee of the Chinese Thin-Film PV Industry Alliance

Kahl am Main/Shanghai, January 21, 2014 – In 2013 an industry alliance for thin-film solar (China Thin-Film PV Industry Alliance & Thin-Film PV Committee of CNECC) was established in Beijing, China. Mr. JuWan Ren, General Manager of SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES Shanghai (SINGULUS) was appointed to represent SINGULUS as Managing Director in the Management Committee of this association.

In addition, Mr. Guobao Zhang, director of the State Energy Resources Commission, was appointed Honorary Chairman of the alliance and Mr. Hejun Li, president of the China New Energy Chamber of Commerce (CNECC) was elected as league president.

The alliance was proposed by Hanergy Holding Group Limited, a leader in thin-film PV in China, and in the meantime has attracted more than 100 members. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES was also one of the founding members. The alliance will focus on the further development of the solar energy industry in China.

Mr. Guobao Zhang comments: “Smog and the general pollution of air have received widespread attention in recent years. As an important solution to the environmental problems, we must tap new resources of energy. Solar energy together with other new sources of energy will provide additional opportunities.”

Thin-film solar technology is an advanced, modern technology. The advantage is its enhanced flexibility and increased translucency. Thin-film solar modules weigh less than comparable crystalline solar modules and many experts see a high growth potential for this technology.

Mr. Hejun Li, President of the Alliance, added that the new association meets the requirements of the industry and expects additional, key companies to join as members in orders to strengthen China’s role as an important country for thin-film solar technology.

Profile SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES:
SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES develops innovative technologies for efficient production processes, which only make use of resources conservatively. New production technology combined with sustainable processes and the use of novel materials can decouple the use of resources from economic growth in the long-term. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES’ innovative power and competitiveness are strengthened by these new technologic developments.

With its Optical Disc segment SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is the market leader for CD, DVD and Blu-ray Disc production equipment. As the only engineering company worldwide SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES today already provides the machine technology for three-layer Blu-ray Discs with a storage volume of about 100 GB.

In the Solar division SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is a recognized supplier for new machines concepts and production processes for crystalline and thin-film solar cells, which increase the efficiency of solar cells and reduce their production costs. SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES establishes itself as a development partner and machine supplier for technologies enabling a sustainable energy provision on the basis of renewable energies.

In the Semiconductor segment SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES focuses its activities on the vacuum coating of wafers with ultra thin layers for the production of MRAM memory, thin-film write/read heads and other semiconductor applications.

SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES continues to expand its know-how in vacuum coating, the automation and process technology as well as the integration of manufacturing lines in order to develop new work areas. To strengthen the existing business activities SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES is currently reviewing concrete acquisition opportunities.

New application areas for vacuum deposition technology are the focus of the further development.
