Intersolar Preview

SolarEdge Technologies provides end-to-end distributed solar power optimizers, inverters, and PV monitoring solutions, allowing maximum energy production for faster ROI. The SolarEdge power optimizers perform MPPT per individual module while monitoring the performance of each module. Module-level electronics enable enhanced maintenance and increased system safety with the SafeDCTM mechanism. SolarEdge technology provides commercial PV systems with flexible design, increased system uptime, and decreased O&M costs. SolarEdge is listed as one of the top-ranking inverter suppliers in the latest IHS report and is leading the global DC power optimizer market with more than 80% market share. SolarEdge has shipped more than 120,000 inverters and more than 3,000,000 power optimizers and has more than 60,000 monitored systems worldwide. In the GTM’s 2014 Microinverter and DC optimizer Landscape, SolarEdge was named a rising star with the highest market share in the MLPE (module level power electronics).

At Intersolar, SolarEdge is presenting its expanding product portfolio for commercial and residential systems:
Smart Energy Management
Increasing demand from utilities to introduce regulations and limit the amount of feed-in power and the transition to home energy management and storage solutions has led to the development of the SolarEdge Smart Energy Management (SEM) solution. The SEM, integrated into SolarEdge inverters, reads the home power consumption and dynamically adjusts the PV power production to maximize self-consumption and ensure that feed-in power does not exceed a preconfigured limit. If power reduction is needed to ensure that the feed-in limit will not be exceeded and self-consumption is fully met, then the inverter will limit energy harvested from the modules. The SEM is particularly important in the German PV market, which only allows 70% of a system’s maximum power to be fed into the grid, and for the Netherland PV market, which has a maximum system capacity due to the electrical limitations. The SolarEdge SEM allows full power production while also accounting for self-consumption and not only power production.

The SEM connects to the SolarEdge server to allow system users and home owners to view power consumption as well as power generation and self-consumption rate.

P405
With the recent introduction of the P405 power optimizer, SolarEdge reduced the minimum string length to support smaller installations. The minimum string length with the P405 is now 6 power optimizers while using single-phase SolarEdge inverters and 13 power optimizers when using three-phase SolarEdge inverters. The P405 has a wider input voltage range to allow support thin-film modules.

P700
Designed as one power optimizer for two 72-cell PV modules, the P700 power optimizer provides a cost-effective solution for commercial PV installations, while offering module-level monitoring, flexible design for maximum space utilization, and increased energy yield.
