INSPIRE Environmental welcomes marine ecology specialist Dr Ewan Edwards to support UK growth image

Aberdeen, UK, 6 October 2026. INSPIRE Environmental, a Venterra Group Company, is pleased to welcome Dr Ewan Edwards, PhD, to its growing UK team. As Director of Ecosystem Ecology, UK, Ewan strengthens the company’s marine ecology expertise and will support the continued growth of INSPIRE’s Aberdeen-based environmental science and advisory offering for the UK offshore energy and marine sectors.

Ewan brings nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of marine ecology, environmental science, and offshore energy. His career has taken him from conducting seal research on South Georgia with the British Antarctic Survey, to researching seabird foraging ecology at the University of Aberdeen, to advising government regulators on marine mammal science, to supporting major offshore energy developments as an environmental consultant.

With expertise spanning marine mammals, fish ecology, ornithology, marine acoustics, and environmental assessment, Ewan has worked across offshore wind, subsea cable and interconnectors, and marine renewable energy projects. He also brings valuable hands-on experience leading offshore surveys and multidisciplinary field programs.

His combination of scientific depth, regulatory insight, and practical offshore experience further strengthens INSPIRE's ability to help clients navigate complex environmental challenges while advancing responsible ocean development.

Ewan’s appointment supports INSPIRE’s continued growth in the UK and adds further depth to the team based in Aberdeen. Working alongside Senior Director and Head of UK, Annie Murphy, Ewan will help expand INSPIRE’s environmental science and advisory capabilities for clients across benthic and fisheries ecology, marine acoustics, Nature-Based Design and advanced environmental data services, supporting the marine infrastructure and renewable energy sectors.
