German laser specialist InnoLas Systems GmbH is looking back to a very successful year 2012. In spite of challenging market conditions, the company achieved a record turnover of € 40 Mio (US$ 68 Mio.). More than 90% of that revenue was generated from sales into the photovoltaic industry, an industry segment that suffered another difficult year with generally declining investments from cell manufacturers.
Richard Grundmüller, CEO InnoLas Systems: “We are of course very satisfied with a revenue growth of 60%, but especially proud that we achieved this due to strong sales into the photovoltaic sector. This industry saw flat or declining investments in 2012, so obviously InnoLas Systems is able to offer something that sets us apart from our competition.”
In the solar industry, efficiency has become the crucial differentiator. The ILS laser machines from InnoLas Systems are designed for advanced processes like PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) and Selective Emitter Doping. Those technologies significantly increase efficiency of standard solar-cells by up to one percentage point.
For thin film solar modules the laser systems of the IMPALA series offer high precision scribing that significantly reduces a module’s “dead area”, leading to increased efficiency.
