HELUKABEL USA to Showcase Wind Turbine Cable Capabilities at WINDPOWER 2012

HELUKABEL® USA will be attending this year’s WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition in Atlanta, GA (booth #1837) on June 3 – 6, and showcasing its vast array of high-performance wind cables and accessories that equip the entire turbine from rotor tip to tower base.

WINDPOWER 2012 is the largest, annual wind-focused exhibition in the world – featuring over 1,000 exhibitors – and is the place for wind industry professionals, experts, leaders, decision makers, and researchers to discover the latest in wind power innovations.

Cable Solutions for Global Wind Production

Developed and tested to provide a service life of more than 20 years, the HELUWIND WK-Series is constructed using specially-stranded copper or finely-stranded, flexible aluminum and unique conductor/jacket insulation compounds. The WK-Series also offers customers:

• Superior resistance to torsional stress
• Wide operating temperature range
• Low surface adhesion/abrasion
• Global approvals – UL / CSA / VDE / CE
• Approval for use on- and offshore

Also on display at the HELUKABEL® USA booth will be the enhanced JZ 603 and JZ 603-CY Control Cables, which recently received certification from both the CCC (China) and GOST-R (Russia) to be used in turbines manufactured for use in their countries. These additional approvals add to the existing certifications received from the UL (US), CSA (Canada) and HAR (Europe).

Wind Turbine Cables for the U.S. Market

Unique to the United States is the requirement that turbines built for domestic use be equipped with control cables that are tray cable (TC) UL approved. To satisfy this requirement, the TRAYCONTROL-Series was developed for the U.S. market.

These flexibly-screened or unscreened, Wind Turbine TC-rated cables are best-suited for transmitting data and power to the operating components within the turbine’s nacelle and tower base. Protected by PVC, PUR or TPE outer jackets, the TRAYCONTROL-Series has been TC-ER, PLTC-ER, and ITC-ER approved for open installation. Additionally, TRAYCONTROL-Series cables are oil resistant having passed Oil Res I and II, flame retardant according to the FT4 flame test, and compliant with NFPA 79 2007 standards.
