The Carmen project will consist of four PV plants and will be located in the town of Carmona, in Sevill
Madrid, 10th October.- GRS, the solar EPC contractor of Gransolar Group, has reached an agreement with Everwood Capital to build the Carmen project in Spain, a cluster consisting of four photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 167 MWp. With this collaboration, the company reaches a new milestone in the Spanish market, where it has a portfolio of almost 40 projects built in the last two decades.
To carry out the Carmen project, located in Carmona, Seville, more than 230,000 photovoltaic modules will be installed on more than 270 hectares. It will be the largest installation undertaken by GRS to date in Spain, where it has built the Carmonita Norte (123 MW), Desafío Solar (50 MW) and Las Naranjillas (50 MW) photovoltaic plants, also in the province of Seville.
This milestone also confirms GRS’s commitment to the Iberian Peninsula as a reference market, where, in addition to Carmen, it is currently working on two other large projects in Spain and Portugal. All this, after having established itself as one of the main solar construction companies in Australia.
Once again, the approach to a project such as Carmen has been possible thanks to the collaboration of GRS with a partner of the relevance of Everwood Capital.
Hugo Álvarez, Managing Director of Everwood Capital, stated: “The Carmen project represents a breakthrough in the investment strategy of our V Fund as it is a large-scale project located in one of the areas with the highest solar radiation in Spain. Everwood has decided to engage GRS after a competitive bidding process where GRS has submitted the best technical and economic proposal to build the project. We have worked successfully with GRS in the past and we are confident that this new collaboration will also be very positive.
For his part, Jordi Vega, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of GRS, highlights the team’s effort and experience as a guarantee of success and values positively the alliance with Everwood Capital. “We are committed to each project we undertake in Spain with the same enthusiasm as when we decided to invest in photovoltaic energy almost 20 years ago. This enthusiasm is what allows us to give 200% in each project and Carmen, thanks to Everwood Capital’s trust, will be a clear example of this,” he concludes.
