(Hamburg, Germany – Aug. 2014) – ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants announced that its high performance wind turbine gear oil, Mobilgear SHCTM XMP 320, is now supplemented with a five year warranty* guaranteeing effective working life of the main wind turbine gearbox. The assurance guarantees extended service life of the gearbox oil for up to five years from the initial fill, delivering optimum protection for the main wind turbine gearbox. To help customers switch to this advanced product, ExxonMobil has established partnerships with industry leading wind turbine oil service providers, C&D Ölservice GmbH and Peter Lonsdorfer GmbH & Co.
The new warranty reaffirms ExxonMobil’s commitment to being a leading provider of lubrication solutions to the wind energy sector. Mobilgear SHC XMP 320 has the potential to exceed the performance of traditional mineral oils by extending the oil drain intervals from 18 months to five years. Increased oil life offers wind operators improved turbine availability which can help to reduce the cost of wind-powered electricity.
Mobilgear SHC XMP fully synthetic industrial gear oils are designed to provide reliable equipment protection and extended oil life even under extreme offshore conditions. The gear oil is extensively approved by leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Vestas, RePower, Goldwing and Bosch Rexroth and protects more than 40,000 wind turbines worldwide.
“The five year warranty demonstrates our unwavering confidence in our advanced performance gear oil. Our products are precision-formulated to help wind turbine operators secure tangible financial benefits by reducing maintenance and associated health and safety hazards facing engineers in challenging offshore conditions,” said Rainer Lange, Mobil SHC brand advisor – EAME, ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants.
