Europe solar technology tenders activity rises 28% in Q1 2021


Europe solar technology tenders in Q1 2021 saw 60 tenders announced, marking a rise of 28% over the last four-quarter average of 47, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  • Project Implementation with 43 tenders and a 71.7% share
  • Supply & Erection: seven tenders and an 11.7% share
  • Electricity Supply: five tenders and an 8.3% share
  • Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 6.7% share
  • Power Purchase Agreement: one tender and a 1.7% share.

Germany tops Europe solar power tenders activity

Germany was the top country in the Europe region for solar technology tenders recorded in Q1 2021 with 13 tenders and a 21.7% share, followed by France with 11 tenders and an 18.3% share and Poland with nine tenders and a 15% share.

Europe solar technology tenders in Q1 2021: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in Europe were:

  • Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 2,150MW from five tenders
  • Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 700MW from one tender
  • Government of Russia (Russia): 500MW capacity from one tender.
