Energy Minister to give keynote speech at Energy Innovation Summit

Minister for Energy, Michael Shanks MP, will provide the keynote address at the UK’s leading energy network innovation event organised by ENA, joining hundreds of delegates already confirmed to attend.

This Energy Innovation Summit, which is taking place at the Exhibition Centre, Liverpool between 29 and 30 October 2024, brings together companies of all sizes with an interest in the UK’s energy future.

The Summit is positioned as the sector’s opportunity to come together, learn about the latest ideas and get updates on the key issues in energy innovation. People responsible for creating new technology, project leaders of top-performing schemes and experts will debate the best way to enable net zero.

This year’s agenda is focused on three themes:

  • Acceleration – Accelerating system capacity to enable mass integration of low-carbon technologies – through flexibility, efficient use of networks and a strategic approach to connections.
  • Inclusion – addressing the gaps in what is required to support customers to decarbonise in an equitable and efficient way and developing sustainable operations.
  • Resilience – Ensuring the reliability and resilience of an increasingly critical electricity system.

Expert speakers confirmed to attend include Marzia Zafar, Deputy Director Innovation, Decarbonisation Strategy, Ofgem; Molly Webb, the founder of Energy Unlocked; Prof. Jethro Bowell, Professor of Statistics and Data Analysis, University of Glasgow; Tony Griffiths, CEO and Technical Director, Olsights; and Mairi Brooks, Smart Energy Systems Director, Low Carbon Hub.

Lawrence Slade, Chief Executive at Energy Networks Association, which represents the UK’s energy networks said:

“We are delighted Minister Shanks will be joining us at the UK’s biggest and best forum for energy network innovators. This year we’re looking forward to delegates engaging with technical experts, policy makers and decision takers, as well as sharing their own ideas, in order to push forward UK’s decarbonisation journey.”
