Oldenburg/Vilnius, 13 October 2024 – Ignitis, Lithuania´s largest integrated power utility, and emsys VPP, a leading provider of Virtual Power Plant services have signed a new agreement to extend their collaboration. Under this renewed partnership, emsys VPP will continue to provide its state-of-the-art Virtual Power Plant as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution to Ignitis. In addition, emsys VPP’s partner company, energy & meteo systems, will expand its power forecasting services. The renowned supplier of solar and wind power predictions will from now on also support Ignitis in calculating the self-generation from its customers’ rooftop photovoltaic installations to better inte-grate solar feed-in from these prosumers into the energy market.
Virtual Power Plant and power forecasting services combined form a sophisticated software suite which has been supporting Ignitis since 2022 in real-time monitoring, forecasting and remote control of its renewable energy portfolio for flexibility trading. Ignitis plans to add up to around 100 solar and wind power plants to the Virtual Power Plant in the near future.
