Ees Europe Award 2016: Submit Your Application By March 24

For the third time running, the award is presented for outstanding innovations in energy storage.

Munich, January 13, 2015 – A great marketing tool for the winners and an indicator for the industry as a whole: The ees AWARD will be presented on June 22, 2016 for the third time running at ees Europe, the continent’s largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems. The award celebrates outstanding products and solutions for energy storage technology in the areas of materials, production, systems technology, applications, second-use concepts and recycling. Intersolar Europe, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners, is taking place parallel to ees Europe in Munich. All companies set to exhibit at one of the worldwide ees or Intersolar events in 2016 are eligible to apply for the ees AWARD.

Batteries und energy storage systems are cornerstones in the energy transition: They are essential for optimizing on-site consumption and ensuring that power grids remain efficient and safe. Innovative storage technologies make it possible to decouple the generation of clean power from consumption, thereby easing the burden on the grids. Storage systems are also a mainstay of future e-mobility. The German government aims to have one million electric cars on the country’s roads by 2020, which would position Germany as the leading e-mobility market and supplier. Independent of this, the global market for lithium-ion cells also continues to grow. In a study published in spring 2015, the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) forecasts that the market will grow to approximately 15 billion euros by 2020. Future generations of cells therefore represent a promising area of development.
