Munich, June 10, 2015 – Today marks the start of ees Europe 2015. Over three days, more than 320 of the approximate 1,000 exhibitors from around the world are showcas- ing their solutions and services for storing renewable energy at both the international exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems and at Intersolar Europe, which is taking place at the same time. This makes ees Europe the continent’s largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems. Between them, ees Europe and Intersolar Eu- rope are expected to play host to around 40,000 visitors.
Intelligent storage solutions are essential for ensuring that renewable energy is used as efficiently as possible. Solar storage system costs dropped by a quarter last year, prompting industry experts to predict a dramatic increase in sales in Germany. The German Solar Association (BSW-Solar) estimates that over 15,000 German households are already reaping the benefits of solar storage units. These systems even allow domestic users to cover a significant proportion of their energy consumption with their own solar power during the evening, enabling them to say goodbye to ris- ing electricity prices. After the inaugural ees Europe took place last year, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and research institutes are presenting the entire value-added chain of battery and en- ergy storage technologies at the exhibition for the second time from June 10-12.
Climbing exhibitor numbers and new partners
This year, exhibition space at ees Europe has grown considerably, with the organizers observing a five-fold increase to around 9,000 sqm in comparison to the previous year. While many returning exhibitors from 2014 have this year extended their exhibition space, the total number of exhibitors has risen from around 250 to more than 320. Industry leaders, such as LG Chem, VARTA Storage, HOPPECKE, Deutsche ACCUmotive, Samsung SDI, Saft, Sonnenbatterie and Sharp Electronics, already view ees Europe as a leading industry platform. The international exhibition also receives considerable support from associations. In addition to established partners, including the Associa- tion of European Automotive and Industrial Battery Manufacturers (EUROBAT) and BSW-Solar, this year’s exhibition has attracted the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (ZVEI) as well as American battery industry association NAATBatt International. Furthermore, insti- tutes such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) reinforce the link between industry and research.
