Companies are invited to submit their applications by March 17
Munich, December 13, 2016 – Innovative storage solutions are driving the energy transition forward: The ees AWARD is set to be presented for the fourth time running at ees Europe, the continent’s largest exhibition for batteries and energy storage systems. The celebratory award ceremony will take place on May 31, 2017 – true to the motto ‘Innovating Energy Storage!’. The prize pays tribute to pioneering products and solutions for stationary and mobile electrical energy storage systems. The range of innovations encompasses the entire value-added chain of innovative battery and energy storage technologies – from components to production to concrete applications and business models. All companies exhibiting at one of the worldwide ees or Intersolar events in 2017 are eligible to apply for the ees AWARD. Intersolar Europe, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry and its partners, is taking place parallel to ees Europe in Munich.
Batteries and energy storage systems facilitate a flexible power supply from renewable sources: They store power from photovoltaic installations and wind farms and use it to guarantee system and supply reliability, thus fulfilling a key requirement for ensuring the success of the energy transition. The global market has recognized the potential for energy storage systems and is booming. This has had an impact on ees Europe, where innovations play a central role. The organizers have taken this into account and are set to present the ees AWARD for the fourth time running. Each year, the submissions and prize winners reflect the developments and trends in the industry. At the first award ceremony, innovative solutions for storing renewable energy and easing peaks in demand was a major area of focus. Then reducing manufacturing costs and simplifying systems grew in importance. In 2016, submissions demonstrated that storage systems are now not only used to optimize on-site consumption, but also play a crucial role in stabilizing power grids and supporting microgrids.
Find out which new developments lie ahead of the industry in 2017 at ees Europe on May 31, 2017. The finalists will present their solutions to an international audience at the ees Forum and afterwards, the winners will be announced as part of a special award ceremony at the Innovation and Application Forum at Intersolar Europe, which is taking place at the same time in Munich.
