Double Dutch Success for Senvion

Senvion SE, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Suzlon Group, the world’s fifth-largest* manufacturer of wind turbines, has announced the official registration of the Dutch subsidiary, Senvion Netherlands B.V., at an official inauguration ceremony for the wind turbine manufacturer’s service base in Nijkerk in the Netherlands.

Senvion already has over 150 megawatts (MW) installed capacity in the Netherlands, including the Princess Alexia Wind Farm (Zuidlob) wind farm near Zeewolde (Province Flevoland). With 36 Senvion 3.4M104 turbines and a total of 122 MW of installed capacity, the wind farm is the biggest onshore wind farm erected by Senvion in Europe so far and supplies approximately 88,000 households with renewable electricity annually.

Raymond Gilfedder, Managing Director of Senvion Northern Europe, said: “Senvion presence in the Netherlands has already grown significantly in the last four years since our first wind turbine was installed here. We are looking forward to growing the market and developing a strong presence here and the inauguration of our first Dutch service centre is a fantastic milestone which demonstrates how our focus remains on high quality and first class customer service.”

Earlier this year, Senvion announced that it had been selected to supply two further wind farms in the Netherlands:

• The Laarakkerdijk wind farm in Brabant is being developed by Eneco Wind B.V and will consist of five MM100 turbines with a total rated output of 10 MW. Construction will start in November 2014 and is scheduled for completion in early 2015.

• Windpark Zierikzee BV located in Zeeland will consist of three 3.4M104 turbines. The project plans for the site were first developed 17 years ago as a farm community project. Construction at the site will begin in August and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2014.
