Zaragoza, Spain, 02 July 2024 : DNV, the independent energy expert and assurance provider, is proud to announce that Lucy Craig, Senior Vice President and Director of Growth, Innovation and Digitalization, Energy Systems, has been elected as a board member for WindEurope, the voice of the wind industry in Europe.
With over 500 members from across the entire value chain of wind energy, WindEurope actively promotes the use of wind energy and seeks to facilitate national and international policies and initiatives, which strengthen the development of European and global wind energy markets, infrastructure and technology. In doing so, WindEurope will achieve a more sustainable and cleaner energy future. As a non-profit association, the organisation is governed by a Board of twenty-nine Directors.
Lucy Craig brings a wealth of experience to her new role, with over 30 years in the renewable energy industry. Holding a PhD in electrical engineering, she has been at the forefront of the wind energy sector since its early days of commercialization. Dr. Craig previously worked for one of the first wind turbine manufacturers in the UK and later joined renewable energy consultancy Garrad Hassan and Partners, which is now part of DNV. Currently Lucy holds the position of Director of Growth, Innovation and Digitalization in DNV Energy Systems’ Executive Leadership team. She is also a Fellow of the UK Institute of Engineering and Technology. Lucy will take up her 2-year role as a board member from 1 September 2024.
Expressing her gratitude for the appointment, Lucy stated, “I am extremely honoured to be elected to the board of WindEurope along with some very esteemed industry colleagues. In my 35 years in the Wind Industry, I have seen huge advances, and indeed at DNV, we forecast wind power will be Europe’s primary renewable energy source by 2050, contributing to 43% of total electricity generation.
“However, the need is now urgent to work with governments and stakeholders to deliver the scaling which is needed to achieve one of WindEurope’s core principles, that Europe must achieve climate neutrality by 2050 at the latest. I am delighted to be given this opportunity to work with fellow board members to contribute to this ambition. “
DNV is proud to have one of its executive leaders recognized for her expertise and contributions to the wind energy sector. Dr. Craig’s appointment to the board of WindEurope further solidifies DNV’s commitment to driving the transition to a sustainable energy industry.
