Deutsche Windtechnik Oversees the Construction and Commissioning of the Sandbank Offshore Wind Farm

Deutsche Windtechnik and Vattenfall GmbH further expand their cooperation in the offshore segment: After working together extensively with Deutsche Windtechnik on the DanTysk offshore wind farm, Vattenfall has once again chosen the independent specialist in wind energy services to oversee the construction and commissioning of the Sandbank offshore wind farm. Engineers and technicians from Deutsche Windtechnik are currently supervising the preassembly and installation of the 72 SWT-4.0.130 wind turbines at the port of Esbjerg. The Sandbank offshore wind farm is set to begin operating in 2017.

“We are delighted that the trust in our work is growing and Vattenfall has involved us in the construction and commissioning of Sandbank at an early stage as part of client representation and quality management,” says Alexander Huth, Project Manager at Deutsche Windtechnik Offshore und Consulting GmbH. Being the client representative and technical offshore representative involves, in particular, supervising the assembly of mechanical and electrical components through measures such as inspection, monitoring, evaluation and documentation. “We represent and protect our customer’s interests on site. Our goal is to ensure quality from the very beginning, and to detect and correct any flaws and deviations while they are still on land. It is necessary to correct any problems before a wind turbine is sent out to sea because of the high costs involved in rectifying flaws offshore. All these aspects will ultimately result in technically sound and profitable wind turbine operations,” Huth added.
