One year after being commissioned to provide complete service for the offshore wind farm Nordergründe, Deutsche Windtechnik has an excellent record of its work to show: With an average contractual agreed availability of 98.78 percent over the course of a year, the value for the Nordergründe wind farm even exceeds the contractually guaranteed uptime. In addition to alpha ventus and Riffgat, Nordergründe is the third offshore wind farm for which Deutsche Windtechnik is also responsible for providing maintenance for the turbines as part of a full service agreement.
Following the insolvency of the turbine manufacturer in April 2020, Deutsche Windtechnik initially temporarily took over turbine service for the 18 Senvion 6.2M 126 wind turbines at the Nordergründe offshore wind farm. In September 2020, the company was able to prevail in the tendering process against strong competitors. The six-year full service contract includes complete maintenance with guaranteed availability. In addition to full maintenance for the wind turbines including large components, Deutsche Windtechnik is also responsible for troubleshooting, remote fault resolution, spare parts management, logistics and everything related to the balance of plants, such as maintenance of the transition pieces and the foundations above and below water.
Forward-looking concept – also for operation without a fixed feed-in tariff
Deutsche Windtechnik was commissioned to provide full service by the investors and operators of the Nordergründe offshore wind farm, which include the wind farm planner / project developer / operator wpd, the John Laing Group PLC and the Gothaer insurance group. Eckhard Stürtz, managing director of the operating company, said: “The maintenance of the wind turbines by Deutsche Windtechnik went smoothly and even exceeded our expectations in the first year. One-stop support in terms of operations management as well as maintenance and repair of the entire wind farm has already proven to be very beneficial. We see this as a model for the future, also with regard to the operating phase after the end of the fixed feed-in tariff.”
Focus on downtime and logistics
Matthias Brandt, Director at Deutsche Windtechnik, said: “Our highly qualified and extremely committed technicians have a lot of experience in all areas of offshore expertise. This enables us to enhance our service concept with a high degree of flexibility. We pay particular attention to the downtimes of the turbines and the logistics. Since we are responsible for complete service at the Nordergründe offshore wind farm, we are very efficient and quick in coordinating the CTV deployments. In addition, as experienced specialists in Senvion technologies, we have all of the necessary onshore and offshore components at our disposal, including large components.”
