CWind, a leading UK offshore wind service provider, is celebrating the official opening of the Lincs Offshore Wind Farm. CWind provided vessels and services for the construction of the wind farm to its clients CT Offshore and Siemens. Lincs is a 270MW project, which will be capable of producing enough energy to meet the annual power needs of more than 200,000 households – equivalent to two thirds of the homes in Lincolnshire.
CWind provided turbine technicians to the site team responsible for the turbine installation and completion. Three vessels from CWind’s fleet of versatile and cost-effective CTruk 20T MPCs have been providing crew and equipment transfer at the wind farm for the last year. They also served as refuelling vessels for the generator management delivered by CWind’s team of technicians. CWind managed the up to 75 generators in use on the site during the final year of construction, servicing, transporting, commissioning, refuelling and demobilising them.
In addition, CWind worked in partnership with CT Offshore on laying the array cables at Lincs.
Jesper Frederiksen, Site Manager Lincs at CT Offshore commented: “CWind have done extremely well in our cable laying activities at Lincs. Their technicians were pro-active and worked hard, ensuring we met our installation time frames. The CWind teams worked closely with our own teams to ensure a competent and efficient delivery of array cables at Lincs offshore wind farm.”
“I am particularly pleased that CWind has been able to provide such a wide range of services at Lincs offshore wind farm, demonstrating the benefit of partnering with a specialist and multi-skilled service provider like us,” commented Peter Jorgensen, Managing Director at CWind.
“We are well known for our cost-effective and multi-purpose vessel operations across the offshore wind sector. A few years ago, we saw that there was also a need for skilled technicians to provide a range of services to developers and owners of wind farms and decided to provide these.” Referring to the recent launch of two offshore wind farms in the UK, London Array and Lincs, Peter went on to say, “To know that both our technicians and our vessels have made an important contribution to their construction and commissioning is confirmation that we made the right call back then.”
