Commenting on the launch of a £100m fund to help UK firms capitalise on the boom in offshore wind, Sebastian Speight, Managing Director of Infrastructure at Ingenious, said: “The launch of the offshore wind industrial strategy is a positive move which will help develop the domestic supply chain in what is likely to be a growth industry over the coming decades as the UK decarbonises its energy supply. In order to drive long-term benefits from an industrial strategy, however, there needs to be commitment across government to tackle a range of factors affecting long-term investment decisions including skills base, structural labour costs, tax advantages and macro-economic factors such as Brexit.”
