Customers can now see the high quality of Centrosolar solar modules at a glance: Germany’s TÜV Rheinland (Technical Inspection Association Rheinland) has put the Hamburg-based manufacturer’s modules through five quality tests. A new TÜV logo displays all of the tests that have been passed. Anyone interested in learning more can read about these tests at www.tuv.com. In addition to the standard product tests, IEC 61215 and IEC 61730, Centrosolar modules have also been tested for salt spray, ammonia and increased pressure under heavy snow conditions. The positive test results confirm that the modules can be used without a second thought, even in regions with extreme weather conditions, such as when the salt or ammonia content in the ambient air is very high. Such conditions are often present for installations in coastal regions or agricultural areas. TÜV Rheinland also gave the green light for areas with extreme snowfall. The “Heavy Snow Load” test checks for possible effects caused by the increased pressure of heavy snowfall. The result: The modules withstand pressures up to 5,400 pascals without a problem. The modules can be used in areas with heavy snow without hesitation.
In addition to the aforementioned tests, Centrosolar also tested its modules for potential-induced degradation resistance (PID) at the beginning of the year. This voltage-related performance degradation is one of the main causes of reduced performance of photovoltaic modules over the course of their life cycle. TÜV Rheinland has confirmed that Centrosolar modules are resistant against PID. “There is no other manufacturer with the same high level of understanding for quality as Centrosolar. Up to now, we are the only module producer that, in addition to the IEC 61215 and IEC 641730 tests, also had its modules tested by TÜV Rheinland for ammonia, salt spray and PID resistance,” says Centrosolar Managing Director Dr. Johannes Kneip.
