Buss Offshore Solutions and Orange Blue Terminal report successful completion for the North Sea One wind farm / Final load-out of the 54 wind turbines at the end of September / Buss Offshore Solutions and Orange Blue Terminal have already started follow-on project involving Merkur wind farm
Hamburg, 4th October 2017. At the end of last year, the offshore logistics experts Buss Offshore Solutions received the order for the project planning and management of basic port services for the North Sea One offshore wind farm. The Hamburg company is now reporting its successful completion. Operational implementation was carried out at the Orange Blue Terminal, owned by Buss, in the Dutch port of Eemshaven.
The North Sea One wind farm comprises 54 wind turbines of Senvion made up of a total of 378 main components. Buss Offshore Solutions was responsible for the planning and coordination of all services required before and at the terminal. In operational terms, the Orange Blue Terminal took care of preparing the area, transport and the interim storage on the terminal premises, the pre-assembly of the complete towers and rotors on site and the subsequent delivery of components to the quayside.
“The storage of the 61.5-metre-long rotor blades, the up to 118-tonne tower sections and the 350-tonne nacelles alone is a logistical challenge. The biggest challenge, however, is managing everyone involved so that a project of this size can be implemented smoothly and on schedule. In addition to our Buss Offshore Solutions and the Orange Blue Terminal staff, easily another 30 staff or so were also working on the North Sea One wind farm at the terminal or elsewhere over the last nine months,” says Martin Schulz, Managing Director of Buss Offshore Solutions.
For project logistics experts and consultants Buss Offshore Solutions, North Sea One was the eleventh major project to have been managed successfully at one of its terminals or at the customer’s site.

This is very important in terms of collaboration, which is always extremely intensive during a project of this size. We were continuously on the terminal throughout the project phase with our site management. Buss Offshore Solutions as our partner has contributed considerably to the smooth running of the project,” says Björn Schlüter, Project Director Offshore at wind turbine manufacturer Senvion.
While Senvion is currently clearing the area, Buss Offshore Solutions is already in the midst of planning its next project: the Merkur offshore wind farm. The Orange Blue Terminal has already completed the preparations for the cargo handling and assembly work, as well as storage.
