Global renewable energy developer, service provider and distributor, BayWa r.e., today announced the promotion of Niranpal Singh as Managing Director of BayWa r.e. Malaysia.
Niranpal will lead developments in BayWa r.e. ‘s several business units, namely Energy Solutions, Solar Project Development and Solar Equipment Trade for Malaysia.
Maintaining his current portfolio as the General Manager of BayWa r.e. Energy Solutions for the Asia Pacific, Niranpal will also continue to drive strategic market growth and development models to
BayWa r.e.’s Corporate & Industrial (C&I) customers in the region.
Commenting on his promotion, Mr Niranpal said “I am beyond excited to take on the responsibility to head BayWa r.e.’s office in Malaysia. The past two years as the General Manager for the Energy Solutions business unit have opened my eyes to many talented individuals locally and regionally. I look forward to achieving more milestones with the team as we do our part in helping Malaysia move towards a transition towards cleaner energy and a more sustainable future.”
Niranpal joined BayWa r.e. in 2019 as the General Manager for Energy Solutions, Malaysia. Prior to joining BayWa r.e. Malaysia, he spent three years developing mini-grids, rural-solar hybrid solutions and commercial rooftop solar as an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction).
Following his promotion, Niranpal will be reporting directly to Daniel Gaefke, APAC Director, BayWa r.e.
Mr Gaefke said: “Southeast Asia presents a huge opportunity of US$30 billion in the next few years according to Southeast Asia’s Green Economy 2022 Report: Investing behind new realities by Bain and Temasek, with contributions from Microsoft. With Niranpal’s expertise in the energy solutions, photovoltaic and renewables sector, it will further refine our offerings in Malaysia, providing our customers with tailored renewable solutions to meet their carbon reduction needs.”

In 2021, BayWa r.e. announced the successful sales of two solar farms in Malaysia to a local renewable energy-focused independent power producer, reNIKOLA Sdn Bhd. The first project is a 5.2 MWp development at Arau located on the university campus in Perlis, while the second project is the 39 MWp Gebang solar park in Pahang.
Further in the Southeast Asia region, BayWa r.e. opened its Wind Projects Representative office in Lang Son Province, Vietnam, in June and partnered with Ubon Bio Ethanol PCL in Thailand to set up one of the largest private floating solar platforms in Ubon Ratchathani.
