Launches the Asia Pacific Solar Institute
Inaugural APVIA Award recognizes individuals and companies
The PV Asia Pacific (PVAP) Conference 2013, now in its third year, is organized by the Asian PV Industry Association (APVIA) and is part of the Singapore International Energy Week. PVAP 2013 achieves new milestones with the launch of the Asia Pacific Solar Institute, a collaboration between three universities to offer training programs in solar energy, and the inaugural APVIA Awards, which recognizes individuals and companies which have made significant contribution the solar industry.
PV Asia Pacific Conference 2013 consists of several notable events, including the Solar Leaders Dialogue, Global PV Financial Summit and PV Technology Conference. It brings together high-level representatives from industry associations, financial institutions and media companies as well as CEOs from leading PV companies, industry experts and academic scholars to discuss core issues for solar energy in Asia-Pacific such as market opportunities, bankability, financing and quality.
Since its 1st edition in 2011, the PV Asia Pacific Expo & Conference, which is hosted by APVIA, is held annually in Singapore as part of the Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW). It is a leading business platform for solar energy in the Asia Pacific that gathers players from all the aspects of photovoltaic technology, including manufacturing and applications, to discuss extensively on the key PV issues including government incentives, development trends, technical upgrading, conversion efficiency, smart grid connection, financing and risks, among others.
In conjunction with PVAP Conference 2013, APVIA held its 5th Annual General Meeting and General Elections. Mr. Zhu Gongshan, Chairman of GCL Poly Energy Holdings Limited was elected as the new Chairman of APVIA while Mr. Edwin Khew, Chairman of the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore, was elected as the new Secretary-General of APVIA.
This year, APVIA launches the Asia Pacific Solar Institute (APSI) which is founded in collaboration with the National University of Singapore, University of New South Wales in Australia and Arizona State University in the US. It aims to offer interdisciplinary training programs in solar energy to professionals looking to pursue or advance careers in solar energy. The solar industry is poised for unprecedented growth and needs leaders who understand both the most current technical and business topics in the field, in order to transform the solar industry. The programs are designed to help participants meet employers’ demands for sophisticated professionals that can address science, policy and high-level business issues.
