Mexico’s first high level international wind energy event will take place on 14-15 February 2012 in Mexico City. Mexico WindPower 2012 is being organized by the Mexican Wind Energy Association (AMDEE), E.J. Krause de México (EJK) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
“It is a great pleasure to participate in the launch of this forum gathering the key players in the wind industry in Mexico. The sector is expanding rapidly but faces great challenges to sustain this growth in the long term”, said Leopoldo Rodriguez Olivé, President of AMDEE.
E.J.Krause has since 1993 collaborated with the energy industries and environment sector in Mexico with exhibitions, The Green Expo and Powermex. “We are very pleased to be able to work with the combined national and international experience of AMDEE and GWEC to launch the Mexico WindPower conference and exhibition” said Ned Krause, president and CEO of EJKrause & Associates. With increased interest from the Mexican government and the rapid development of new wind Projects, we believe that it is time for a specific wind energy event.”
“We are delighted to be co-organising Mexico WindPower at this phase in Mexico’s growing wind power market. The conference will bring together a range of high level policy makers and international experts in the field of wind power, and move the dialogue forward in this exciting new market”, said Steve Sawyer, Secretary General of GWEC.
Mexico currently has 519MW of installed wind power capacity, a figure that will double in 2011 and is expected to experience a five-fold increase over the next four years. According to AMDEE most of the wind projects are located in Oaxaca, yet there is huge potential in other areas such as Baja California and the Bay of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico.
The challenge is to further consolidate the Mexican wind industry. New wind projects in Mexico will contribute to increased energy security, price stability, boost for local industry development and the fight against climate change.
Mexico WindPower 2012 will bring together the key players in the sector, including policymakers, regulators, project developers, manufacturers, service providers, financiers and researchers.
The high level Conference will focus on helping Mexico tap its wind energy potential. Special attention will be made to facilitate networking and business to business contact at the event.
