aleo solar AG today announced that it has appointed Shane Messer as Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing of aleo solar North America Inc.; he has also been appointed General Manager of this US subsidiary. He began his duties on August 1, 2011 and has operational responsibility for the company’s performance and development in the United States. With Shane Messer, aleo solar is gaining an experienced sales professional and expert in the photovoltaic industry; he was Sr. Director of Sales for North America – Residential and Light Commercial for SunPower Corporation.

While aleo solar AG has maintained a presence in North America since 2006, the hire of Shane Messer represents aleo’s intent to expand significantly into this key photovoltaic market. Industry experts forecast the newly installed solar power capacity in 2011 to exceed one gigawatt in North America. Further, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) estimates that two gigawatts will be installed in 2012 and four gigawatts in 2013.
