- – The Norwegian EPC, Aibel selected AEG PS AC & DC systems to secure critical control equipment
- – AEG PS is leveraging its offshore expertise and global footprint to answer specific requirements
Zwanenburg, The Netherlands, December 2, 2020 –AEG Power Solutions, a global provider of power supply systems and solutions for industrial, critical infrastructure and innovative power electronic applications, today announced that Aibel, a Norwegian EPC specialized in off-shore industries, has chosen AEG Power Solutions Protect 8 UPS and Protect RCS rectifiers to secure power on the converter offshore platforms which they build for the Dogger Bank wind farm in the North Sea.
The final customer is Equinor and SSE Renewables consortium, which is developing the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm, on the Eastern coast of England. Dogger Bank wind project will have a combined capacity of up to 3.6 GW, and it is expected to produce enough energy to power the equivalent of 4.5 million UK homes, making it the largest offshore wind farm worldwide.
Aibel will deliver two HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) converter platforms (converting AC power generated by the wind turbines to DC for easier transportation to the shore) for the Dogger Bank A and Dogger Bank B projects. AEG PS systems are securing power respectively for the control process of the conversion operation (AC systems) and the switchgear ((DC systems). The solution includes two Protect RCS 110TPRE1200 rectifiers, two Protect 8 inverters 60KVA, distribution cabinets and batteries on racks. Both systems have proven track records of successful operation in the toughest environment.
