The wind conditions around the globe are available now in your pocket on your phone. Whether you are in Italy, Argentina or New Zealand, you can see the current wind conditions on your iPhone /iPad – either directly on site or by manual selection of any place in the world (Google Map).
Since the introduction of Win(d)Scout for Germany, the app has been downloaded more than 6,000 times in the App Store. For version 2.0 of Win(d)Scout its functions have been improved and developed – and now it goes around the world!
Custom-fit wind turbines
The information-rich first screen of the app (screenshot 1) provides a color raster view of the world according to average wind speed, where the user can virtually position his or her turbines. Using this tool, the user can also position the turbines at their current position and find out in seconds whether the wind speeds and that location meet his or her requirements for a feasible project.
The scenario can be fine-tuned on the app’s second screen (screenshot 2), where the wind turbines can be configured through multitouch or in the settings dialog box. Win(d)Scout then immediately calculates the wind conditions and production output of the customized turbines (screenshots 3). Additionally in the PRO version the user is able to choose between real manufacturer’s power curves or can create their own power curve.
Free app: worldwide wind resources in 9 km resolution + wind resources in Germany in 2 km resolution can be used in English or German language.
