A record year for Deutsche Windtechnik USA in 2020, with over 1 GW added in turbine maintenance

The US unit of Deutsche Windtechnik, founded in 2018, can look back on an outstanding record year. This year alone the US branch has experienced a growth of more than 700% where the growth is expected to continue in 2021. Particularly noteworthy are the new contracts that have made the company responsible for more than 1 GW in the US alone. The increase in service contracts is being shouldered by more than 100 new employees taken on in the operational and administrative areas. Among them are experts in Mitsubishi and GE turbine technology, which are new additions to the service portfolio. Training programs have been developed in the technical and safety areas to ensure that the team meets the demands with high quality and safe work.

1 GW mark exceeded in November – resulting in 10 GW company-wide

The success of Houston-based Deutsche Windtechnik Inc. is driven by the number of new service contracts for Siemens, GE and now to include Mitsubishi. Adding Mitsubishi to the portfolio has brought in 724 MW under long-term contracts resulting in a total output of more than 1,300 MW in the US alone this year. At the same time, the entire Deutsche Windtechnik Group celebrates 10 GW rated power under maintenance contract globally.

Executing the new projects requires an adjustment of the existing structure in accordance with the growth. The number of employees has more than tripled in one year being 139 in total now. That includes more than 90 technicians who are carrying out maintenance and repair on wind turbines across 14 states. To keep the service at the highest level of quality, Deutsche Windtechnik has invested in growing the training department in the US to offer the latest standard of technology through the in-house developed training program customized to each turbine technology. In addition, the strategically chosen decentralized approach ensures fast response times and quick communication and decision making processes as Deutsche Windtechnik continues to grow.
