Wind & solar can’t provide energy needs

Wind, solar can’t provide energy needs

Mainstream media are gaga over solar and wind energy.

Myth 1: Mainstream media would have you believe solar and wind can replace coal-fired power plants. Most coal plants produce base-load electricity. Base-load electricity is required 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Solar is obviously not base-load. Only about 30 percent of wind energy can be used as base-load because of its variability.

Myth 2: Solar and wind in the U.S. will have a major impact on global warming.

Electricity represents about a third of our energy use. Solar and wind will produce a small fraction of that in the next 25 years.

Contrary to the misleading headlines in this paper, China is not reducing energy usage. In fact, China is building a new coal-fired plant every nine days.

Any decrease in global temperatures from solar and wind will be almost unmeasurable and will be overwhelmed by the coal-fired plants in China and India.

Myth 3: Renewable energy reduces unemployment.

This voodoo economics says that if you increase the cost of goods and services by raising energy prices, you will reduce unemployment. If so, then let’s generate all of our energy with treadmills and create hundreds of millions of jobs.

Wind and solar growth is driven by the massive tax breaks given to wealthy individuals and big businesses and by state mandates.

To solve our base-load energy demands, we need to redirect some of this spending toward energy conservation, energy efficiency, geothermal, nuclear, and biomass.

These proven technologies will provide clean energy at a lower cost.
