SAE success at Scottish Green Energy Awards

SIMEC Atlantis Energy (Atlantis) was both delighted and honoured to scoop two awards at the Scottish Green Energy Awards. Atlantis won the Champion of Renewables award, which is presented to companies that are truly unique and have shown how much the industry has to offer and helped tell the story in a new and different way. The award recognised Atlantis’ drive and leadership to create a sustainable tidal industry in Scotland and globally. Core to our award was recognition of the amazing achievements of the past 2 years.

Our second award was an individual award for “Outstanding Contribution”. This award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated truly outstanding achievements and, through their enthusiasm, commitment and actions, has helped to grow and champion Scotland’s renewable energy sector.

The winner was our CEO, Timothy Cornelius, with the award recognising the huge contribution Tim has made to Atlantis, the industry, and Scotland. The award was sponsored by Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Audrey MacIver, Director of energy and low carbon at HIE, presented Tim with his prize and said: “I could not be happier for Tim to have received this award. He really is the epitome of passion and dedication to his sector, and he has done so much to put tidal energy in Scotland on an international platform.”

John Neill, Chairman of SIMEC Atlantis Energy, also added “I am extremely proud of all the Atlantis team and the outstanding contribution award recognises all the hard work they have put in to deliver time and time again. On Tim’s award, it is completely deserved and recognises the personal commitment and drive he has provided, not just to Atlantis but to renewables and Scotland. Congratulations”.
