Parsons Brinckerhoff appoints new head of renewables

London, United Kingdom (06 September 2013) – Parson Brinckerhoff, the international engineering consultancy, has appointed Claus Hjoerringgaard as Head of Renewables, with responsibility for growing the company’s renewables business across Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa.

Danish-born Hjoerringgaard has over 20 years’ experience in engineering and management consultancies, in the UK and internationally. He is based at Parsons Brinckerhoff’s office in Newcastle upon Tyne, from where he leads a team of specialist renewables engineers based within the company’s extensive power business.

Formerly CEO at Fichtner Consulting Engineers, Hjoerringgaard’s experience there included developing services within the waste-to-energy sector and diversifying into renewables, in particular biomass, wind and solar. Within previous companies he had responsibility for business development, and strategy development and implementation.

David Rutherford, Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Global Head of Power, commented: “Having led technical and commercial organisations, Claus has broad experience from strategic development to project delivery. His strong client focus and high profile within the sector make him a very welcome addition to the company.”

Hjoerringgaard has a BSc in Environmental Science from the Aalborg University in Denmark.
