Orders at GP Solar GmbH reached their highest level ever in the company’s history at a total volume of some 25 million euros. Once again, the Constance-based specialist in inspection systems for wafer, solar cell, and module manufacturing managed to significantly increase total annual order volume in its GP Solar Inspect business unit. In the months of October and November alone, orders surpassed the 10-million euro mark. The sum will boost revenues and results in the upcoming 2011 fiscal year.
This positive result is due in large part to a successful launch of the GP Solar Inspect product line in the Asian market. The inspection systems offer solar wafer and cell manufacturers precise 100 percent monitoring of their solar production processes. At the PV Taiwan trade fair in late October — one of the key trade fairs in the Asian region — GP Inspect made customer contacts that resulted in contracts. GP Solar has also had success in the Chinese and Korean markets.
More than 250 wafer, cell, and module inspection systems have already been delivered to Asia this year. ”We are benefiting from the development that Asian solar cell manufacturers are now putting a very high premium on the quality of their products,” explains Dr. Eric Rüland, managing director of GP Solar, a wholly-owned subsidiary of centrotherm photovoltaics AG. “We support our Asian customers in achieving high quality results and better efficiencies, which is why we are expanding our sales activities in Asia.”
