Residents and businesses in Hull and East Yorkshire will be able to keep up to date with the latest news and developments regarding the region’s emerging renewable energy sector, thanks to a brand new website that has been launched by Green Port Hull.
Packed with news and information, the new site will give the latest updates regarding the Green Port Hull developments, as well as information to help support investors and their supply chains to secure long-term economic growth for the area.
The site is also home to an exclusive supplier directory, which has been created as a leading industry resource to showcase the strength and depth of the local businesses. Our region has strong and diverse supply chains to support the growing renewable energy industry and the directory will provide a single point of contact for a vast array of skills and resources, and demonstrate the capabilities, knowledge, services and products businesses have to offer.
It’s an effective way for organisations to make business connections within industry both nationally and internationally. If you supply the renewables sector or the wider offshore energy sector, you can create a listing for your business to enable buyers to locate and contact you.
One business that has signed up to the Green Port Hull directory is Hull firm Pearson Electrical, specialist electrical engineers with over 30 years of experience in the marine, industrial and hazardous area sectors.
Managing Director, Mark Pearson, explains:
“As a company, we already work in the offshore industry, most recently working with MMS Shipbuilders in designing and installing electrical systems on wind turbine accommodation supply vessels. However, we want to be able to diversify and access new opportunities in the green energy sector when they arise, which is why we signed up to the directory. It’s a great way for local SMEs to be able to promote themselves to the larger contractors in preparation for sub-contract work at Green Port Hull.”
Commenting on the new website, Mark Jones, City Regeneration and Policy Manager at Hull City Council, said:
“With the work starting on the £310m Siemens wind turbine production facility, together with other renewable investment under the Green Port Hull banner, we expect many residents and businesses in the region will have lots of questions about what’s happening next and what impact it will have on them. One of the objectives of the new website is to create a hub of information relating to the project.
“Green Port Hull will affect many people in different ways, which is why we wanted to make the site as clear and concise as possible, with identified areas for different stakeholders. There’s community information for the general public and residents, as well as a section explaining how, through the £25.7m Green Port Growth Programme, local businesses can access support and funding to assist them to enter the renewable energy industry. As the project will be creating up to 1,000 jobs, we have dedicated an area to employment and training .”
The new website also includes a resources area, where visitors can download project documents, as well as videos, an events section and a newsfeed.
