New partnership will benefit industrial and commercial business customers
DONG Energy Sales UK Limited (DESUK), a UK subsidiary of the DONG Energy group, entered a strategic partnership with Smart Metering Systems (SMS), the Glasgow-based integrated metering services company yesterday.
The contract will see SMS providing meter asset management (MAM), site works and data services across DESUK’s industrial and commercial business customer portfolio. This will mean more accurate and timely data for customers that enable them to visualise and understand their energy usage patterns in order to optimise efficiency, as well as improved billing accuracy.

The AMR device, SMS’s ADMTM, sits alongside the gas meter and generates a pulse, recording the amount of energy used. This information is communicated back to DESUK via SMS and made available to customers via a secure website, where it can be displayed numerically or graphically in a variety of units of measure. Through interpretation of this data, businesses can employ a data-based decision model to achieve effective energy management.
SMS was selected due to its operational competence, innovation and customer focus as well as its flexibility, which ensures a good fit with DESUK’s dynamic solutions model. DESUK are partnering with a single established provider to enhance their product and service offering, and put themselves in an advantageous position to access and utilize their comprehensive package of data and meter solutions.
