Critical Software signs contract with Brazilian AES Tietê

Critical Software announces that it has secured a contract for the development and integration of IT systems for AES Tietê, a subsidiary of the Brazilian Energy Company. The project is to provide a critical asset management system that will support the business activities of AES Tietê, which is primarily the production and distribution of sustainable energy.

In an increasingly competitive global market, access to top quality information is vital for leading companies and organizations. Having an integrated view of validated and fully auditable information is now nothing less than a standard requirement for efficient business. Automating and standardizing operational processes and production management, through advanced methods of analysis and diagnostics, is of paramount importance in differentiating the best energy companies. AES Tietê chose Critical Software Brazil’s platform for that very reason.

Critical Software is implementing an advanced platform to automate operational processes of registration and information management, which will integrate disparate control systems, relational databases and other applications. Critical Software will also develop an Operation and Maintenance Management System that will identify, classify, analyze, control and plan corrective actions against energy supply problems.

“Critical Software is developing a system that collects and integrates information from AES Tietê’s multiple corporate and process systems, from supervisory systems, as well as from third-party systems. This is achieved by the use of an Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) tool, real-time Interfaces and data collection forms,” explains Filipe Freitas, Critical Software Brazil’s Business Development Manager.

“Critical Software’s work has allowed AES Tietê to automate and standardize its Production and Operations Management processes, as well as the diagnosis and analysis of power plant performance, with dissemination of the information throughout the company,” says Antonio Carlos Garcia, AES Tietê’s Operations Manager, adding that “at the same time, we are discontinuing outdated systems with high maintenance costs, and we are also adapting operational processes according to the best asset management practices.”

AES Tietê was born of the privatization of Companhia Energética do Estado de São Paulo (CESP). Since 2003, the company has been controlled by Companhia Brasiliana de Energia S/A – a holding company established by AES Corp. and the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Económico e Social (BNDES).
