Jan De Nul Group provides installation works for subsea cables and umbilicals for the oil & gas and renewable energy markets. In 2015 and 2016 the company will install a total of five power cables for Aramco’s Marjan Field.
Two power cables for Marjan GOSP’s
Jan De Nul Group will install two 115 kV cables, supplied by Nexans Norway, for the Marjan Gas Oil Separation Plan (GOSP’s) project executed by McDermott. Both cables, with a total cable weight of 8,500 tonnes have been loaded and will now be transported and installed in one single trip with Jan De Nul Group’s Cable Laying Vessel Isaac Newton. This vessel is the latest addition to Jan De Nul Group’s already impressive fleet and is the largest Cable Laying Vessel of its kind, capable to transport and install over 10,000 tonnes of cable per single trip. The largest out of two carousels on board has a carrying capacity up to 7,400 tonnes, ideally suited for transport and installation of the longest and heaviest of the two cables, with a length of 87 km and a weight of 7,300 tonnes. The Marjan GOSP’s project is the first project for the Isaac Newton.
Three power cables for Marjan Zuluf
For the Marjan Zuluf project, executed by Saipem, Jan De Nul Group has in the meantime installed three power cables with its Cable Laying Vessel Willem de Vlamingh. The largest 115 kV cable was loaded last September in Italy, from Prysmian’s facilities in Naples.
Back at work for Aramco
In 2007-2013 Jan De Nul Group executed Aramco’s Manifa Field Causeway and Island Construction Project, covering a total area the size of Manhattan. Jan De Nul Group was in charge of the design and construction of the 25 oil drilling and production islands each with space for ten drilling wells. Also two water injection islands were designed and built. To connect these islands the contract included the design and construction of 41 km length of causeways, including fourteen bridges. It is by far one of the most prestigious projects ever realized by Jan De Nul.
