What’s in a name? Thorsten Jalk, CEO at Ziton, dropped in to tell us about the name change from DBB Jack-up. It’s an exciting time for the company; they offer more than a jack-up service, in fact they provide the whole operations and maintenance package. Owning the vessels contributes to fulfilling their aim of reducing costs for their customers.
PES: Welcome back to PES Wind magazine. For the benefit of our new readers would you like to begin by explaining a little about the background of your organisation and how you currently serve the wind industry?
Thorsten Jalk: ZITON works specifically within Offshore Wind. We are a specialised operations and maintenance service provider to offshore wind farm owners and turbine manufacturers.
We own three jack-up vessels, which we use to provide cost-efficient, flexible solutions for exchanging major components on offshore wind turbines. We also have many years’ experience in operating these vessels in demanding conditions at sea.
But the work we do actually fulfils a bigger purpose, which is to help our customers reduce costs. So our strategy is about engaging with customers and working together with them, to develop vessels and services that will increase the number of operational days offshore.
ZITON is actually a new name for our company. We were previously called DBB Jack-up. We were previously called DBB Jack-up, after starting up in 2008 as part of the DBB Group. We’ve since separated ourselves from that group, which is one of the reasons we decided to rebrand.
