High quality film requested for encapsulation

BREYER’s extrusion system, CellProtect, allows the production of low shrinkage EVA encapsulation film at high production speed. Joachim Bormann talks us through the state of the market and the company’s innovative response.

According to the latest quarterly update from Mercom Capital Group, llc (as well as other sources), the solar industry is forecasted to continue its growth in 2015 with installations reaching approximately 54.5 GW
“China and Japan have to overcome some implementation issues for 2015 to be another good year for global solar installations,” said a spokesperson for the group. “On the positive side, new funding mechanisms are helping reduce the cost of financing and are bringing in new streams of funding into the sector.”
This positive outlook plays to our strengths at BREYER and our customers are duly focussed on quality in an effort to meet their commercial needs. And this is an area we excel in – as our extrusion system proves.
A closer look at the technology
Encapsulation film produced on regular extrusion lines naturally has a shrinkage which affects not only the process of laminating, but can result in destroyed wafers, which therefore creates waste and thus increased production costs.
A high quality and low-shrinkage film allows a smooth and fast laminating process. The more shrinkage a film has, the more carefully the warm up procedure must be controlled and could increase the laminating time.
