PES: Welcome to PES Wind magazine. Thanks for talking with us. Would you like to begin by explaining a little about the background of your organization and how you currently serve the wind industry?
Stephen Blaikie: Bibby Marine Services Ltd, part of the Bibby Line Group’s portfolio of companies, has signed a contract with Dutch shipbuilder, Damen, for a purpose-built Service Operations Vessel (SOV) to serve the offshore wind market. The new ship, ‘Bibby WaveMaster 1′ represents the first collaboration of its kind between the two market leading companies. Drawing on Bibby’s 200+ year maritime heritage, Bibby Marine Services Ltd has the express aim of serving the marine needs of the offshore renewables market. The company uses its expert knowledge and experience to provide total access and accommodation solutions for the offshore wind farm sector. Through our company, Bibby HydroMap, we have been serving the offshore renewable sector since 2002.
PES: You have recently announced that work has commenced on the new vessel – the BIBBY WAVEMASTER 1…tell us more?
SB: Yes, the build commenced in February at Damen’s main new building yard in Galati Romania. Delivery is expected in June 2017. This is a very exciting time for us.
