A relatively new addition to the wind sector, WINDSOURCING.COM uses cutting-edge technology to service sales and procurement processes. We asked Stefan Weber to talks us through the pioneering online service…

PES: Welcome to PES magazine. Can you begin by explaining a little about your company and how you serve the wind industry?
Stefan Weber: WINDSOURCING.COM is a procurement platform for selling and buying spare parts, consumable supplies and services for wind turbines. Manufacturers of wind, owners of wind farms and service providers have the opportunity to either procure or offer spare parts, consumable supplies and services for wind turbines.

The innovative aspect WINDSOURCING.COM is that the advantages of an online platform are applied in order to optimise both sales and procurement processes in the wind industry.

WINDSOURCING.COM’s added value consists in cutting down costs for sales and procurement activities as well as in reducing down times of wind turbines, since buyers are able to find and purchase spare parts within a shorter time period.

The online platform helps to create more transparency regarding available spare parts and components by publishing current product offers. WINDSOURCING.COM is an international platform and enables easy access to available spare parts, components and products on stock worldwide.

PES: Why would I, as a manufacturer, choose to sell my products through your platform? Similarly, what are the benefits for buyers?
SW: WINDSOURCING.COM is the procurement and sales platform for manufacturers, small and medium sized companies as well as OEM. To all these target groups we offer a new sales channel without investing much money. OEM and other bigger companies often do not address potential customers with only small demands, as their sales structure does not allow this due to the high costs of salespeople. By publishing their product offers on the platform, they are also able to serve the market of smaller customers without further investments in their sales force.

The main advantage of WINDSOURCING.COM for buyers is the transparency which is created by publishing offers for spare parts and components in different products groups. Savings are realised by reducing the work time invested in research/ request for offers and by the decrease of the downtimes of the wind turbines.
