Setting new standards in Health & Safety training

An already fiercely-contested sector, H&S training is of critical importance for almost all organisations operating within the offshore industry. We found out more about Survivex, an Aberdeen-based company that has made massive inroads in a few short years, and the facilities it employs to deliver the best possible training.

The offshore Oil & Gas industry has spent decades enhancing and refining systems, processes and procedures to make the sector a safer place for those who work within it. Widely recognised as one of the world’s most hazardous operating environments, worker safety has been given priority status and as such accidents and incidents are disproportionately low within the sector.

The industry has come to recognise the importance of investing in personnel to ensure they possess the core skills required to undertake the roles assigned to them more effectively and therefore with greater efficiency. Comprehensive and specialised training in a variety of disciplines, including working at height, confined space and lifting operations, has been implemented to meet the specific demands of the industry and to comply with government regulation.

As a rapidly growing sector, with many parallels to Oil & Gas, the wind industry undoubtedly experiences many of the same challenges as its energy counterpart; keeping the workforce safe in potentially
dangerous situations and ensuring that a talent pool exists which has the right people with the correct skills and competencies, is of paramount importance.

One company that sees its role as bridging the competency gaps in the workforce regardless of the sector in which it operates is Survivex, a market leader in Health & Safety training to the global energy industry. And as the development of renewable technologies gathers pace, the organisation sees the training that it has developed for Oil
& Gas as fundamental to the requirements of this new sector.

Operating from its state of the art facility in Aberdeen, the established training provider has built its reputation on the delivery of superior courses that meets the specific needs of its customers. Supporting the industry, Survivex has assisted in developing one of the safest environments, in some of the harshest surroundings, by developing Health & Safety courses which cover basic safety training as well as more specialised disciplines.
